Town Administrator



Canaan, NH (3800 approx. pop.), is seeking a proactive community leader to serve as its next Town Administrator. Located halfway between Boston and Montreal, Canaan is immersed in the natural beauty and opportunities provided by the lakes, trails, and mountains, some 12,000 acres of which is protected by conservation easements, yet just a short drive to the City of Lebanon, the regional business, tech, and engineering center, and all the cultural, medical, and educational assets of Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center and Dartmouth College. Governed by a 3-member Select Board, the Town Administrator is responsible for overseeing the full array of services provided by 24 FT employees and an operating budget of $5.2 million. Bachelor’s degree in public administration or related field, and five or more years of progressively responsible experience in municipal management preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant management experience. Salary range to $80,000. Starting salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. Canaan is an equal opportunity employer.

Highway Laborer/Equipment Operator


Full-time position working on all aspects of highway and public works repairs (water, sewer, and government buildings). Work includes salting, sanding, plowing, ditching, road repair, hauling of material, operation of heavy construction equipment, repair of sub-surface water/sewer lines, and maintenance of public properties.

Compensation starting at $21.50 and up to $24.50 depending on experience and certifications.

Benefits include vacation, personal days, sick time, health insurance with a low co-pay, dental, and life insurance. Benefits also include allowances for boots, uniforms, and seasonal outerwear. NH Retirement System benefits in addition to social security.
