Special thanks to our judge Linda Roesch. Linda’s comments about this year’s submissions:

The entries this year were extraordinary! Congratulations to all who entered and apologies for not being able to give an award to each person. We are blessed with so many beautiful sunsets on the lake and was pleased to see many striking images.

It is interesting to see so many views of our beloved lake. Congrats to those who also captured other living creatures among us like the heron, pet dog, ducks, a loon, butterfly and ever present dragon flies.

And to the Young Adults, congrations on your entries!

"Thank You!

To the residents of Canaan:

On July 4 Canaan Lake Association, together with Cardigan Mountain School, celebrated its third annual beach party. Following our Annual Meeting, visitors were able to enjoy hamburgers, hot dogs, cold drinks etc. provided freely by Cardigan Mountain School.

Thanks to Rick Roesch, his son Erick, Michael Paine, Jim Adler, Gene Kohn and Cardigan Mountain boys who erected the food tent, provided again by Rick.

Our thanks to Headmaster Dave McCusker, Stephie McCusker, Bob Spano and Larry Ackerman for cooking, particularly on such a hot day. Our dog competion, organised by Trish Brown, with judges Sandi Blaise, Joanna Carr and Alex Burger was very well attended by some twenty dogs, each worthy of a prize. Thanks to Lola Baldwin, Jeanie Ritchie and Nancy Loomis for running the bean bag contest. There was a big turnout with fifteen children winning prizes in the sandcastle competition run by Susie Baldwin and Susan Dudt. Thanks to Dave Zani who headed the second year for the boat parade around the lake and to all those who joined in. This year Danny Fleetham, aided by Harry and Audie Armstrong, took three groups around the lake in his party boat.

In addition, to Dave Auerback's turtle project, and a loon display, exhibits by NH Department of Environmental Service personnel in the Meeting House informed us about treatments for stormwater, cyanobacteria, and climate change. John Bergeron, is our expert on the Canaan Lake watershed and largely responsible for this Exhibition; our thanks to him, Rick Roesch and Michael Paine for all their working in setting up this event.

We invite you to join us next year.
Jan Forbush
Chairman, Canaan Lake Association
