Notice of Hearing for Proposed Bond / Borrowing 

January 16, 2024 at 6:00 PM located at 52 NH RT 118, Canaan NH 03741

TOWN OF CANAAN VILLAGE WATER AND SEWER SUPERVISORS NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING CONCERNING PROPOSED MUNICIPAL BOND/LONG TERM BORROWING ISSUE

Pursuant to New Hampshire RSA 33:8-a, the Town of Canaan Select Board acting as the Water and Sewer Board of Supervisors hereby gives notice that it will hold a public hearing on January 16 2024 commencing at 6PM at the Canaan Emergency operations center concerning a proposed borrowing / municipal bond issue in the amount of up to $234,000.00 as the local match of the cost for replacement of lead water service lines as required throughout the Canaan water system. 

The total cost of the project is estimated to be $780,000.00 with 70% to be provided in the form of a grant from the NH Department of Environmental Services. The 30% local share in the amount of $234,000.00 to be raised by the issuance of a Bond/Loan if and only if the 70% grant is awarded and with the term and interest rate as determined by the Select Board.

Property tax payers will not be assessed for interest, principal or any construction costs of this project. The full cost of the project including interest and principal payment will be reflected in the water rate and collected in the quarterly water billing
